On the Easel – July 2016

I’ve been doing a lot of fun smaller things lately (portrait skteches, time lapses, etc.), but I’ve also got a few slightly larger, long-term-ish things that are being rotated around the easels in my studio. One of which is this one:

 

 

While not working with the model I at least have the drawing:

 

 

This painting has been super fun to work on, a great pose but also I’ve been experimenting more with red and blue primer/underpaintings. The blue is interestingly tougher to work with, it’s a very strong color that can really take over the piece if not too careful. But in terms of making the figure stand out I’d say it does the job well. Just need many careful layers 🙂
The painting is close to being completed I think (when does one really know though…), and I will be posting the finished piece in my portfolio soon.
