This is the first of posts that will highlight a piece that I’m currently working on. It’s a way to virtually visit my studio!
So anyways, here’s what’s on my easel currently:
This is a portrait I started of one of my dearest friends, Hazel. Soon after Steven Assael’s workshop I’ve been wanting to try a portrait using some of the techniques I gleaned. Hazel was willing to sit for me and watch 4+ episodes of Bones on Netflix in order for me to catch this. I did feed her tea and cookies, but I owe her forever a debt of gratitude 🙂 I do so hope she sits again, because this was fun to do! I had a leftover panel that I hadn’t used from the workshop, and I had this cobalt blue scarf and I thought, ‘What the hey, let’s use them as vibrant backdrops for Hazel’s features and skin tone’. Hopefully I can finish it more and post it as a finished piece, or I can let it stand as a good study 🙂
