Marching through 2015…

2015 is here, no doubt there!

Of course by now the insane winter we had is slowly taking its leave (although March isn’t over yet folks…)

While the cold and white snow raged on outside, here’s what I’ve been working on in my warm studio…

Portrait update:

‘A’ has sat a couple more times since I wrote about her portrait back in December. The painting is definitely coming along. ‘A’ and I had spoken prior to starting her portrait, and she had mentioned how much she liked Andrew Wyeth’s work. I immediately thought of Andrew’s Helga paintings and drawings, and looked to those for inspiration on pose/lighting etc. I’ve had fun experimenting on color placement in this painting, I just love the color of A’s sweater, I can’t get over how cool it is! I wonder if she will let me title it “A and the Sweater”…

And here is Andrew Wyeth’s painting, Sheepskin, that was a point of inspiration for A’s pose:

New model, also: DRAWING!

I have also started working with a new model. A figure painting is in the works, but here is a charcoal study I’ve done of her recently:

Drawing with charcoal like this has made me fall in love with drawing all over again, I’ve been painting so much, I am looking forward to a Spring full of drawing…

With new website comes new work!

I have added some new paintings to the good ol’ Portfolio. Here, have a LOOK!
