So I’m happy to report that I will be teaching a class at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland this Spring! The class is Figure Drawing, it’s a five-week course that will happen every Saturday morning.
I’m so excited for it, I think it’s going to be a fun experience and hope that people will get something out of it. I’m such a nerd and love and appreciate the basics and fundamentals of drawing so much that I hope it rubs off!
The description and sign-up can be found HERE
Some key vocab for it that I’ve established: Block-in, charcoal, mass, value, light, shadow, shadow shape, shadow line, proportion, gesture. No, there will not be a test 🙂
I truly believe that just knowing the fundamentals of seeing and drawing the figure are the most important tools in an artist’s toolbox. Just learn how to draw what you see in front of you, how to capture the essence of what you see, and then you are golden. Sounds so easy, right? The secret is just practice, understanding, and dedication, as with any other craft.
Anyways, I really look forward to it, just hope I can help people!
In ending this update, I did produce a new still life. I blame the cloudy days we had here in Maine for a while, and all the white stuff strewn across my studio. So fun to paint this!
